Our client, a leader in the design, development, marketing and distribution of watch brands is looking for a Senior Human Resources Manager. This is a full time direct hire position. 
 

The Senior Manager of Human Resources for Retail is responsible for handling all HR functions for the Retail division which includes recruiting and retention, employee relations, training and development, performance management, compensation, succession planning, legal compliance, employee engagement, and policy development. The individual will work in partnership with the corporate Human Resources team and the retail team and will directly report to the SVP of H.R. and indirectly report to the President of Company Stores.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with store management and execute on all aspects of the recruitment process for personnel in the retail division
  • Understand the retail business and act as the Human Resources Business Partner for the Company Stores
  • Maintain an awareness of the level of employee engagement through regular interactions with employees as well as store management
  • Provide advice and develop programs and policies to help drive retention
  • Partner with managers in the performance evaluation process and provide guidance to ensure timeliness, consistency, and accuracy of the process
  • Calibrate performance and potential throughout the retail organization to ensure that performance issues are addressed, talent is identified, and succession is ensured
  • Conduct annual leadership assessment discussions with managers to ensure that managers are leading and directing staff effectively and in accordance with the corporate culture/guidelines.
  • Manage employee relations proactively and investigate employee complaints, policy violations or performance issues quickly and recommend actions to address the issues. Partner with SVP HR, or with Legal and Loss Prevention when needed
  • Drive management ownership of the leadership and development process for their people. Advise them on the appropriate actions to take which includes development plans, performance management or corrective counseling
  • Partner with SVP, HR and President of Retail on strategic staff planning and compensation design to support the business objectives of the retail division
  • Ensure employee compensation is in line with external benchmarks; perform market research as needed
  • Perform compensation reviews to ensure compensation aligns competitively based on local business trends and geographic differences
  • Inspire a culture of celebration, appreciation, and recognition at the store level to drive performance and enthusiasm
  • Partner with the Diversity and Inclusion committee to develop and implement initiatives that support diversity and inclusion in our Retail stores
  • Drive HR standardization, processes, and efficiencies across the retail division. Ensure managers execute HR practices, processes, tools, and systems appropriately
  • Help identify change management issues and propose and/or implement other value-added initiatives per business requirements
  • Ensure that all policies and practices of the division are aligned with corporate policies and in accordance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Create an environment of continuous learning and development for retail personnel to build knowledge, improve performance and enhance growth

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10 + years diverse HR experience, including 5 + years supporting a multi-store business
  • Strong employee relations experience and the ability to handle complex issues
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws and regulations for the US--knowledge of Canada labor laws is a plus
  • Strong organization skills as well as the ability to be detail oriented, work independently, and manage multiple and competing projects/priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional communication skills including strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills with a good knowledge of MS Office Suite, Slack, Team/Zoom
  • Proficiency with HR Systems which includes Time & Attendance, Applicant Tracking System (ATS), HRIS, and other cloud applications
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Flexibility to travel to stores as needed

Competitive salary range $115,000  to $125,000
