Our client, a food manufacturer in Fair Lawn is looking to hire a Manufacturing Accountant for their team. Working with our Senior Cost Analyst and Accounting Manager, the Manufacturing Accountant will assist with transactional and analytical tasks focused on the following:Responsibilities
- Maintain database of Bill of Materials (BOM) extracted from SAP into Excel pivot tables:
- Update and modify BOMs as required for new products, formulation changes, etc.
- Work with Production team to update and understand change recipes in SAP, material substitution, identification of versions used, simulate material replacements, etc
- Maintain BOM database per SKU and translate each material component to cost per pound
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing standard costs for Material cost
- Perform inventory reconciliation for month-end closing, COGS calculation & SLOB reserve.
- Assist in analyzing inventory variances, stock levels, obsolescence reserve calculation for raw materials.
- Assist Purchasing and warehouse manager in tracking current stock availability for all plants, stock consumption, transfers and movements in SAP, period-end adjustments, etc.
- Assist Senior Cost Analyst in variance analysis and stock movement for Raw Material, as well as for material costing by SKU, brand and customer
- Assist Senior Cost Analyst in Raw Material cost simulation to replace packing, labels and any other materials as requested by customers or for saving initiatives
- Maintain pivot tables for raw material cost, pricing, revenue by SKU and other weekly and monthly reports
- Work closely with several teams in addition to Finance - including Production, Purchasing, Quality, IT, etc.
- Assist Accounting Manager and Senior Cost Analyst at month-end in areas such as COGS calculation, inventory valuation, detailed expense analysis, & Ad-Hoc projects
Requirements and skills
- Local manufacturing industry experience “a must” -from companies with manufacturing locations in USA
- Knowledge of manufacturing process from accounting and costing perspective
- Understanding of Bill of Material (BOM) concepts, BOM database, material and pricing costing, inventory consumption, COGS, etc.
- Hands-on experience with ERPs - SAP-S/4Hana - strongly preferred
- Advance Excel user – heavy user of pivot tables, filters, sumifs, vlooks, subtotals, search, etc.
- Good knowledge of accounting rules and procedures regarding inventory, raw materials and COGS.
- Work experience as an Inventory Accountant, Cost Accountant or similar
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
- BS in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree
- Additional certification (CPA or CMA) not needed but a plus
- Spanish speaking also a plus
