Position Summary
Our client, a laborer's union is looking for an experienced Benefits Analyst to support their Health & Welfare Funds. The ideal candidate will have strong claims-processing skills, excellent customer service abilities, and high attention to detail. This is a full time, temp-to-hire opportunity. 



Key Responsibilities
  • Process a variety of claims (Medical, Prescription, Hearing, HRA, Life Insurance, Death Benefit, Disability, etc.) for two Health Funds.
  • Provide Customer Service support to Participants and Providers — including phone, in-person, fax, and email inquiries regarding eligibility, coordination of benefits, and claim status.
  • Manage Disability Claims — process short-term and long-term disability requests, request updated medical documentation, track participant eligibility and work status, update Excel logs, coordinate with Medical Consultant, and process weekly disability checks.
  • Process weekly and monthly benefit checks and EOBs for participants and providers.
  • Handle incoming W-9 forms from providers (mail/fax) and enter them into company software.
  • Review monthly reinstatement and new-hire reports; prepare and mail enrollment packets.
  • Maintain participant files, including filing confidential documents and updating change-of-address information.
  • Process beneficiary updates, enrollment documentation, and maintain member and dependent information in internal systems and vendor portals.
  • Process Life Insurance/Death Benefit notifications, claims, and payments.
  • Process reciprocities — request and send hours for participants working out of territory.
  • Manage HRA enrollments, benefits processing, and eligibility updates.
  • Handle monthly COBRA notifications and payment processing.
  • Process checks for the purchase of member hours/credits.
Job Requirements
  • 3+ years of strong customer service and benefit communication experience
  • 3+ years of health benefits and claims processing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills with strong confidentiality practices
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Additional Information
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM (35 hours/week), In Office
  • Must pass a drug test and background check
